Information Architecture and Information Merchandising
Plumb Design to Present Paper at InfoToday in New York
New York, April 15, 2002 — Plumb Design will conduct a session at this year's InfoToday 2002 conference, taking place at the New York Hilton, May 14-16.
Peter Vlastelica, Client Partner, and Head of the Electronic Publishing Practice at Plumb Design, will lead the session, titled "Web Design and Information Architecture for Information Professionals," on Tuesday, April 24, at 12.00 p.m.
Increasingly, as Information providers face the need to demonstrate the value of their products, information architecture serves critical functions beyond the traditional focus on usability. Information architecture and design have become means for Information Merchandising, the systematic process of using strategic consulting, information design and technology to optimize the selection, segmentation, presentation, and display of information products on the Web. This may include market and product segmentation, targeted pricing models, strategies for upselling, etc. For database products and other information-based offerings, information design and architecture can help with merchandising by communicating depth, relatedness, relevancy, and differentiating premium content and services.
InfoToday 2002 is designed to be the conference and exhibition for the electronic information and knowledge management communities. For more information, go to
